I want to provide a simple guide for dressing pleasantly while staying warm in the winter. A large wardrobe is never required to have style. The only thing needed is quality versatile pieces that are cohesive within each other. Dressing in the winter can be difficult as no one wants to compromise warmth. This guide I have created will make dressing in the winter as fun as you want to be warm.

Long Sleves:

I would recommend at least 2-3 long-sleeve options for the winter. I love a fitted look, substituting a regular long-sleeve shirt for a long-sleeve bodysuit. Personally, I have black, brown, and creme long sleeves. They are great for when you want something simple without exposing your arms to the cold. Long sleeves are also useful to layer underneath ensembles to add extra warmth.

Sweaters:

Sweaters seem like an obvious choice to gravitate toward in the colder months. I often find that people are choosing the wrong sweaters for creating a casual wardrobe. Neutrals are your friend. I am not saying don't go for color. I will always go for color I love color. Try to carry sweaters that color translate well onto the rest of your wardrobe. Again I reach for cremes, white, and pinks. I would say three sweaters is all that is necessary. One needs a regular-fitting sweater and an oversized one.

Pants:

Pants are essential to stay warm in winter. There are many different types of pants that are easy to style and comfortable. Jeans are my go-to in the winter for a couple of reasons. I find that denim is warmer and more water-resistant than typical cotton trousers. In the winter I am searching for study materials that will not welcome wind easily. I do not think a person needs more than two pairs of jeans. If you want a minimal wardrobe make sure to give variety between the two different styles of jeans. A couple of pairs of dress trousers are necessary in the winter as well. Slacks that are formal, but not too formal, are great to pair with a bodysuit or sweater.

Blazers:

Blazers are the ultimate item to instantly elevate an outfit. Blazers add warmth creating and amassing sophistication. Oversized blazers are very trendy right now and offer more warmth for the winter months. One oversized would be a positive addition to a capsule wardrobe, one standard-size blazer will stay in style forever. Always pick the timeless choice over trends. The goal of a good winter capsule wardrobe is for it to last forever. My favorite way to style a blazer in the winter is to throw a turtleneck sweater underneath.

Dresses:

I still wear dresses in the winter! The cold can be intimidating and make you feel like it's not possible to wear dresses warmly in the winter, but this is false. Long-sleeved dresses are what I gravitate toward. Knitwear growing in popularity has made it easier ability to these types of warm dresses. An instant easy way to give some warmth to dresses in the winter is tights. Thermal tights are what I opt for as they look like normal tights but provide much more warmth. The perfect thing to pair with tall boots.

Shoes:

Shoes are my favorite way to stay warm in the winter. The right shoe can make or break an outfit. With a shoe that doesn't provide warmth, uncomfortably occurs which no one wants. That is why picking the right shoe is important. To have a stable warm winter wardrobe one only needs a couple of shoes: boots and a sturdy pair of tennis shoes. My favorite warm boots this season have been my Ultra Mini Platform Uggs. There are much cheaper and just as cute alternatives. New Balances are the tennis shoes of the season, they provide warmth and style. Always make sure to check kids' styles as a lot of shoes can be bought much cheaper that way!

Acessories:

There is no way to complete a warm winter ensemble without some accessories. My favorite winter accessory is my earmuffs. I will wear them with any outfit in the winter, especially if I am cold. Earmuffs make the outfit much more exciting without freezing. Gloves are an imperative thing in the winter to keep your hands warm. My favorite type of winter gloves is leather, as it provides a more elevated look. Quality colorful knitted scarves add a nice touch of color and warmth topping off the ensemble.
